Train your brain

Well, to forget is human. So completely normal. No reason to increase the worry lines. But sometimes the shock is deep. Names do not come to mind, the front door key is mislaid, the title of the last read book can not be called and the date of the wedding day is still missing. At least now it’s time to train your brain. After all, it works more perfectly if required. It seems like a muscle that stunted without exercise. And there’s a catchy name for the repair: brain jogging. That’s not really new. Already in antiquity our ancestors wanted to increase the performance of the brain.

What is the brain?

With its own weight of 1000 to 3000 grams, it represents on average only one-fiftieth of our own personality dar. However, demanding it from the heart, about twenty percent of the blood to pump through it. Only a short failure of the blood circulation causes brain damage, since the brain stores only very little oxygen and energy. And one more thing: it burns one-fifth of the oxygen consumed by humans. As a working tool, it has about 100 billion nerve cells, the so-called neurons. They are networked and have thousands of contacts or synapses among themselves.

What happens when learning?

In learning, information is processed in exemplary sequences of such brain waves. When these patterns are repeated, they are stored. A comparison with a computer lags, however. While the PC „remembers“ everything, our brain works very selectively. It decides within a short time, what should apply in the short term or long term. In addition, it still controls emotionally. In procedural memory learned skills, movements and habits are stored in the cerebellum. Episodic and semantic information, such as names, language and experiences come into the declarative memory. Sensory impressions deposit it in sensory memory for about two seconds. Thereafter, it is deleted and delivered to the short-term memory for 30 seconds. Finally, everything lands in the long-term memory with its almost unlimited space. It is a pity that, in the end, humans only use about ten percent of their gray cells during their lifetime. In order to keep something going, you should actually do more for his active memory. Read, study and practice, or simply stay focused with brain jogging.
