Personnel bottlenecks and understaffing of wards are often a major problem for nursing homes. Time saving is therefore an important factor for economic efficiency. Nowadays, the care rate in nursing homes is often around 1 to 10, which means that there are around 10 residents per nurse. During night shifts or weekend shifts, there are usually even more residents per nurse, as the number of staff is reduced again. This increases the risk of accidents enormously. It is therefore important to provide aids that save time in the daily care processes.

Aids for more time saving

An effective solution are e.g. the shared SafeFree side guards. Because they can be lowered in less than 2 seconds and thus create faster access to the occupant. Also the high-positioning is just as fast settled. In addition, handling side guards is often a real dilemma for operators and nursing staff, combined with considerable liability risks: „too little side guarding“ can result in serious falls. „Too much side protection“, on the other hand, can be legally interpreted as a measure involving deprivation of liberty (FeM).

Also practical are so-called express bed extensions with which the bed length can be adjusted without tools in the shortest possible time. Bed exit systems with integrated sensors can noticeably improve the safety level, especially during night and weekend shifts with few personnel. During the night, the bed exit assistance system can help to reduce the use of side guards. The freedom of the occupant/patient is thus maintained. An automatic night light guides the occupant/patient safely to the toilet at night. It is automatically activated when the occupant/patient gets out of bed and extinguishes when he or she is back in bed. It is also possible to adjust the stepless time interval to the individual mobility levels of the occupants/patients via nurse call timing. Weighing residents can be particularly time-consuming, especially if the beds have to be moved using a bed lift. In beds with integrated weighing systems, this sensor technology is usually already integrated. In addition, the weight can be measured and documented with you without time-consuming and time-consuming relocation.

Automatic positions that can be set at the touch of a button support positioning comfort and pressure sore prevention – for the benefit of the occupant and to relieve the strain on the nursing staff. For example, the automatic comfort seat moves the bed to the preset sitting position: for comfortable television and reading, for eating or for communication at eye level. Mobilization with the lift is effectively supported in this position. In addition, this position facilitates breathing and digestion, spatial perception is trained for bedridden residents and circulation is stimulated.
