Ergonomic grooming, health in the job. In our series, we deal with the ergonomic optimization of important handling techniques in nursing professions. This – and by the use of appropriate tools – can be at least reduce the burden on the nursing staff and make it more compatible.
Today we are dealing with the rearrangement from the sitting to the lying position with the help of the shoulder grip:
Preparation for nursing staff

• With his arm that is closer to the resident the nursing staff grasps the resident on the opposite shoulder
• His other hand is on the resident’s knee
• The legs are offset – the front leg is supporting the resident’s thighs
Moving the resident

• The resident’s shoulder is pressed backwards until his legs lift off the mattress
• The shoulder girdle is pulled in the direction of the nursing staff
• His legs are lifted onto the bed
