The Internet presences of outpatient services, senior citizens‘ day residences and facilities for 1-day care are promising, but do they also keep their promises or are they simply poorly staffed reception camps for sick and elderly seniors?
Day residences appeal to people who are looking for social contacts and employment, for example following a stay at a hospital or rehabilitation, when those affected need a strengthening or activation of their abilities in order to be able to cope as independently as possible with the problems of everyday life. Depending on the provider, the benefits are more or less diversified. Day care facilities offer a wide range of services, from outpatient services and driving services to therapeutic applications and meals. They range from morning sports, Easter devotions, bingo, sitting-dancing and morning gymnastics to excursions to local lakes.
Everyday life in community
In day care, people who can no longer cope with their everyday lives without help should spend the day in community. For example, they are picked up in the morning and brought home again in the evening. During the day, they receive professional and competent care with a structured daily routine – that’s the temptation on the net. Day or hourly care is intended to encourage them to stay in their familiar surroundings and to delay inpatient care. According to statements by various providers, day and night care services offered by care insurance companies can stabilise the home care situation. The aim is to maintain and promote independent living. It is advertised also with the fact that day and night care can supplement the ambulatory supply: ?If you cannot ensure the care 24 hours continuously at home, you do not have to give up it equal completely! On their Internet pages, the services advertise that caring relatives can finally take their well-earned time out to recover and their relatives know that they are in good hands.
