The care of a patient or a resident for the nursing care staff is often very strenuous and stressful. This strain often manifests itself in damage due to overload, such as back and neck problems. These are caused by a combination of poor working postures and movements, incorrect use of aids, patient condition and other working conditions.

Together with a physiotherapist, who also offers appropriate training for our customers, we have developed a handbook with tips and instructions for the ergonomic performance of daily care operations. Over the next few weeks, we will regularly publish instructions on the most important care handling techniques from this book. Today: Rotation of the resident towards the nursing staff

Preparation of the resident

• The rear leg is crossed or placed over the patient’s front leg
• The patient’s front hand is placed on the opposite, rear shoulder

Preparation for nursing staff

• The hands are placed on the hip and shoulder of the patient
• The arms are stretched out
• The back is held straight and look straight ahead
• The legs are offset

Rotation of the resident

• The body weight is shifted backwards and the patient is rotated
• The arms remain stretched out

Here the handling technique is also shown in a video:
