i-drive - Minimal effort for patient transport

The transport of beds is one of the most physically demanding tasks in everyday hospital life. This is especially true for intensive care units where patients are in extremely critical health, often unconscious or severely restricted in their mobility. Therefore, caregivers often need to transport these patients directly in bed. An intensive care bed can weigh up to 200 kg – adding the weight of the equipment and the patient, it weighs at least 300 kg. In the case of obese patients, the total weight of the beds can even reach 500 kg.

wissner-bosserhoff’s i-drive technology provides a revolutionary ease of bedding, allowing a caregiver to perform this task comfortably alone and with minimal effort.
Cope with effort. The i-drive system significantly extends the functionality of the central fifth swivel castor in the bed chassis, making it easier to move around on narrow floors, in elevators or in patient rooms. The i-drive reel is equipped with its own electric motor. The electronic drive roller is available in two versions. The Fast Forward Execution shortens the transport time on long, straight stretches. The Forward version optimizes speed when space is at a premium, and the bed has to be transported skillfully and carefully to minimize the risk of accidents and collisions. In addition, there is the Free Ride version, with which the bed can be moved without an electric motor.

Particular attention was paid to the safety and ergonomics of the controls, which function reliably even in emergencies and are easy to reach for the user. The integrated sensor, located under the control handle, can be manually activated on the control panel. When the hand is removed from the sensor, the bed automatically stops. All buttons are ergonomically attached to the side of the control. The electric i-drive system has a high-capacity battery, allowing transport up to 5 km. A clearly visible charge level indicator on the control panel shows the current battery level. The i-drive system is specifically designed for intensive care units where speed and precision are paramount to saving patients‘ lives. Therefore, the system is fully compatible with the multicare and eleganza 5 intensive care beds.
