A trumpeter, a drummer and a 7-year-old violinist – this is the Ciobanus family from Romania, who play together in a little family band. They play together at village festivals and weddings as well as with larger music groups. They all share a love of music and of the family: “Music is our life. The family band holds the family together and cultivates tradition.”

René Schwerdtel, a photographer from Herchen, Germany, traveled a long way for our 2018 portrait calendar. His photographic journey took him to international family businesses, where young and old work together, share experience with each other and enrich each other and the company with their knowledge. Minor disputes are all par for the course, but aren’t taken home to the dinner table.
